Selling a Home with a Teenager: What Adults May Not Realize
Selling a house is usually an adult decision. Parents decide when to move, where the family can afford to live, which school district makes sense, whether a job requires relocation, or whether the house simply no longer works for the family. Then the real estate process begins. An agent comes through the house, photographs are scheduled, closets are opened, belongings are packed away, strangers begin walking through rooms, and conversations turn toward contracts, inspections, appraisals, repairs, and closing dates. Somewhere in the middle of all of that may be a teenager whose entire world has just become part of a real estate transaction. That does not mean parents should not sell their home. It does mean there is another person in the house whose experience deserves more thought than, "Please clean your room before the photographer gets here."
