I came across something recently that made me pause and really think.
It talked about how easy it is to drift off track in life—not in big, obvious ways, but in small ones. The kind you don't notice at first.
Sometimes we become so set in our thinking that no one can teach us anything. Other times, we go the opposite direction—we chase every new idea, every new perspective, and end up feeling scattered and unsure of where we're headed.
If I'm being honest, I've done both at different points in my life.
And maybe you have too.
There's a quiet tension in growth that we don't always name:
Neither leads to wisdom.
In Epistle to the Colossians 2:4–7, there's a reminder to stay grounded while continuing to grow—to be rooted, but also built up.
That combination matters.
Because being grounded doesn't mean you stop asking questions.
And being open-minded doesn't mean you believe everything you hear.
The passage I read said this:
"Press toward wisdom… never quit using your mind."
That line stayed with me.
To me, staying grounded looks like this:
It's not about having all the answers.
It's about being willing to keep seeking them—with discernment.
This isn't just about faith.
It shows up in how we:
When we're too rigid, we can miss opportunities for growth and connection.
When we're too scattered, we can lose confidence in our own decisions.
Wisdom lives somewhere in the middle.
I see this play out often in my work.
Some buyers come in with such fixed expectations that they can't recognize a great opportunity when it's right in front of them.
Others look at everything, consider every opinion, and end up overwhelmed—unable to move forward at all.
Sellers do the same:
The clients who navigate this best aren't the ones who know everything.
They're the ones who:
That's where good decisions come from.
You don't have to choose between being strong in your beliefs and being open to growth.
You can be both.
Stay rooted.
Stay curious.
Keep learning.
And when in doubt—press toward wisdom.
Because that's where clarity lives.
